IT WAS A GLITZ AND GLAM AFFAIR AS THE EYANGO GIRLS SHOWCASE THEIR LATEST COLLECTION.

The Eyango girls were in town to showcase their latest collection. Mina and Kamala Eyango, founders of fashion brand Lavillenoire, held a pop-up shop for their latest collection. The collection was made up of fabulous, easy flowy and bold prints.   The event which was held at Topish Shop in Bastos, Yaounde, was attended by socialites and fashionistas alike. Also in attendance were the legendary Dedi Eyango(Mina and Kamala’s father) and Cameroonian MUA, Shaitou Cho, who was the make-up artist for the ladies. SPOTLIGHT: YENIH’S DELITES.

I remember my friend once asked me ‘What does cooking mean to you?’ and I replied “Cooking is a conversation with the soul”. That instantly resonated with her. She later on told that it switched¬† her mindset to start seeing cooking as a time to connect with her soul rather than a chore. With time, she started noticing great improvements in her cooking( and it had nothing to do with the fancy Wok her partner gave her as present). I love food but more importantly, I love to cook. I’ve always been fascinated about the science behind cooking. How one can can instinctively and rightfully blend spices and food together to make a delicious meal. I love the colours, the textures but most importantly, the taste of food. Through cooking, I realised the best meals come from your gut feeling and not from recipes. I realised your soul needs to be fully awake when cooking.(I realised that’s when the best meals are made, whether freestyle or well-known recipes.) Whether from Bombay to Bafut, the culture behind cooking/food moves me. For over 4 years now, I’ve been documenting my cooking. I’ve created a special segment on this blog where I’ll be sharing pictures and stories of my experiences during the process. With time, I also plan to share recipes so we can all participate in the cooking experience. I hope to entertain, inspire through my love for cooking. Let’s have...

FOUNDER OF TOOSHAI FACES TALKS BEAUTY, BULLYING AND STRENGTH WITH NEW PHOTOSHOOT.

Bullying can scar one for life. To overcome it leaves you powerful, superhuman powerful…ask Shaitou Cho, founder of¬† Tooshai Faces. The popular MUA recently shared a powerful message on her facebook¬† page, on how she overcame bullying. When I was younger I was bullied about my protruding forehead, and I grew up thinking it was a problem, so I always chose hairstyles that will cover it up. But curiously this bullying made me strong because I adopted and accepted all the nicknames that were levied on me because of this head. Ask my classmates and school mates and teachers from PSS Bafut,¬†Eric Forbi Forbi,¬†Yenih Ngwabo¬†LI LI Forkum¬†Mboka Ndeh¬†Nelson Ndeh¬†Golda K. Ajode¬†Sylvia Yenwong-fai¬†Malaika Nain Ngole¬†Adjeley Yobo¬†Solange Fonkem¬†Beryl Litil Nubed-Tchuetie¬†Lorraine Ndingwan¬†it was just fun time for all of us. In the end I realised this was the most beautiful part of my body and what always made my looks stand out. I knew once you could love yourself and accept yourself as you are, no one will make you feel different, because God created you as you are in a unique way. So I”unveiled” the head¬†ūüėāūüėā, if you can say that and started enjoying everything about me. To all of us who do body shaming, give love a chance, and to all those who don’t love something about themselves, know that you were created by God in a unique way and you are here to serve a purpose. Use everything you have and be the best you can be. Let people like Nick Vujicic, Turia Pitt, Muniba Mazari and a host of others be your inspiration. How powerful is this? Sinchang...

GLITTER QUEENS: KIM KARDASHIAN AND BEYONCE.

Kim Kardashian broke the internet again¬†today with her latest post. The reality star/Business woman¬†announced¬†her soon-to-be-released ultralight beams highlighters and glosses from her KKW¬†beauty line by posting a half naked picture of¬†herself, covered in body glitter. The shimmering beauty products will be launched on the 1st of December on her KKW beauty website. With Christmas being all about shimmers, I’m guessing these products would fly off the shelves like turkey on Christmas eve. Kim sure knows the¬†stack up money¬†game. Keep growing…keep glowing gurl! Anywhooo…when I saw this on her Instagram page, it instantly reminded me of the 2013 Flaunt magazine cover of Beyonc√© in which she also posed half naked covered in body glitter. What’s better than one curvalicious, glittericious woman…TWO! Both ladies are body glitter...

YW COVERSTAR: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH EBANGHA NJANG.

She can easily be confused for a model with her striking looks and her signature androgynous fabulous style. So…are these some of the factors that make Ebangha Njang standout? It was her media presence that first caught my attention. On Facebook and Twitter, she was always going hard, promoting Cameroonian artists. It was really refreshing to see the love and support she was pouring into the Cameroon music industry. How could one not notice? Around the time we were gearing up for our next Coverstar feature, I received a message from Ebangha “Hello I’ve been following your blog for a while now. I think y’all amazing.” At that moment, I felt she was a genie and had just granted my wish because little did she know that she was at the top of the few people we had in mind to be featured on the next cover. We immediately took that as a sign and viol√†! YW’s latest coverstar. Yvonne Ebangha Njang was born and raised in Douala and Ed√©a respectively. Her dad( who worked with the Ministry of Agriculture) and her mum( a Housewife), instilled discipline and the fear of God in her and five siblings at very young ages. Being a close knit family, her childhood was filled with fun family times, including relaxing by the River Sanaga, watching favourite cartoons and attending church on Sundays. That makes for an exciting childhood, doesn’t it? But it wasn’t exactly the same when it came to her teenage years. “My teenage years didn’t mean much to me honestly. I know it’s hard to believe lol but i was a...

Both platforms are created to promote and celebrate entertainment and entertainers in/from Cameroon. YW You said media was never in your plans. You studied History and Archaeology at the University of Buea. What were your career plans? JN I wanted to be a historian. I love history and how I use it to tell stories or solve today’s problems. But when I left UB, my dreams changed. I was hit with a tragedy that changed my life plans. I just found myself loving and aspiring to be into media. YW¬†You moved to Nigeria after a very sad event that happened to your family and it was there that you realised you wanted to work in radio. Tell us how that came about? JN I lost my 17-yr-old sister to a fatal car accident in 2007. An incident which left me suicidal and completely confused. I lost the zeal to be alive. However, I had some friends...

COVERSTAR: YW EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW AND VIDEO WITH JOAN NGOMBA.

¬†PART ONE. I believe our subconscious minds take us where our conscious minds resist to go. She always loved writing so all she wanted to be was a Historian. She was determined to be just that so much so that she ended up studying History and Archaeology at the University of Buea. So what would actually change the course of a determined ‘Historian’ in the making? Here’s the story about the media journey of Joan Ngomba, a TV presenter, Producer, Writer,Blogger and a Fashionista. Just after university, Joan had found a job as a secretary for JENS production when a major tragedy stroke. Joan lost her last sister in a ghastly car accident, she was only 17. Having to deal with such devastating loss, Joan found herself completely lost, not knowing how to pull through with life. She had few friends in Nigeria who encouraged her to come over for a change. With the support from her friends and determination to pull through, Joan set off for Nigeria in 2007. When she got to Lagos, her friends again encouraged her to apply for a post graduate course which she agreed to. She applied waited for the entrance results. Still feeling down, Joan moved to Calabar to be with her cousin. It was while there that she had an ‘Aha!’ moment. There was this particular show on Rhythm FM that caught her attention . It was presented by Wild Child and when it came on, she was gripped instantly. He was so good and there and then Joan realised she wanted a career in radio, just like Wild Child’s.Despite having...

COVER STAR: YW VIDEO INTERVIEW WITH DUWA.

Whenever Tosin,Milounge boss, starts a conversation with “YO!”,I just know something is about to pop. I had been woken up by my ringtone on this particular morning. It was Tosin on the line, all excited like he just came face-to-face with a gold mine. He was about to send over a song by this incredible artist for me to listen. Once the audio came through, I pressed play and was transported into a delightful musical world and once her voice came on, my ears instantly did somersaults…my excitement levels went off the roof.   After that, I knew I had to get to know this superstar soundbox even more. Once I got her contact, we got talking on whatsapp. If ever you got talking to Duwa, you quickly realise why her sound is so dreamily beautiful. She’s soft-spoken, respectful and widely and finely skilled to know exactly how she wants to present herself and music to the world. Born Glory Ojoduwa on the 29th of August, 1988 to Nigerian parents in the United States of America. Growing up in Washington DC, Duwa always had an irresistible love for music. Her parents recognised her talent at a very early age and her dad would record home videos of little Duwa singing down a storm. That love propelled her to join the children’s choir and then youth choir where she did lead solos and also conducted the choir. Off to college where she studied Mass Communication and Media Integration, she also sang in a college band which helped ignite her love for music even more. Because of this irresistible love for...
