I stumbled upon this movie trailer while doing my usual research for the blog, I’m happy I did. Any movie about love(and its complexities) is my thing. Then throw in some couture pieces and some hawt guys…woo
Happiness Is A Four-Letter Word is based on the novel of the same name by South African author,Cynthia Jele, a winner of the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize 2011 and a 2011 M-Net Literary Award winner. The movie is set in Johannesburg, South Africa and centres around three friends who on the outside, seem to be living the fabulous life. Nandi, the lawyer, Zaza, the trophy wife and Princes, the art gallery owner seem seem to have it all but why ain’t they happy? The friends will have to untangle the true meaning of happiness and will do everything in their power to find it.
I follow the Khanyi Mbau on Instagram, the actress who plays Zaza. She used to be married to a wealthy older man and at that time some people branded her a gold-digger. In playing the role of Zaza, Khanyi said;
“Zaza is married to a wealthy older man to sustain her expensive lifestyle. She’s not married for love but for the money,”…
“When I was younger, I lived such a life as I didn’t know what love was. I thought it was being bought a sports car, living in a mansion and buying designer clothes.”
That’s like reliving the past, isn’t it? I’m sure it must have been hard for her but at the same time very powerful knowing that she left that life behind. Whenever I go on her page(stalker alert…lol), all I see is this strong hardworking independent woman who loves her daughter, a woman in control.
The movie also stars Mmabatho Montsho, Renate Stuurman, Chris Attoh, Tongai Chirisa, Richard Lukunku, Daniel Hadebe and Simo Magwaza.
If you’re fan of Sex And The City, With This Ring and all the chick flick classics, then you’re in for a treat. The movie comes out on February, 19
