YW COVERSTAR: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH EBANGHA NJANG.

She can easily be confused for a model with her striking looks and her signature androgynous fabulous style. So…are these some of the factors that make Ebangha Njang standout? It was her media presence that first caught my attention. On Facebook and Twitter, she was always going hard, promoting Cameroonian artists. It was really refreshing to see the love and support she was pouring into the Cameroon music industry. How could one not notice? Around the time we were gearing up for our next Coverstar feature, I received a message from Ebangha “Hello I’ve been following your blog for a while now. I think y’all amazing.” At that moment, I felt she was a genie and had just granted my wish because little did she know that she was at the top of the few people we had in mind to be featured on the next cover. We immediately took that as a sign and violà! YW’s latest coverstar. Yvonne Ebangha Njang was born and raised in Douala and Edéa respectively. Her dad( who worked with the Ministry of Agriculture) and her mum( a Housewife), instilled discipline and the fear of God in her and five siblings at very young ages. Being a close knit family, her childhood was filled with fun family times, including relaxing by the River Sanaga, watching favourite cartoons and attending church on Sundays. That makes for an exciting childhood, doesn’t it? But it wasn’t exactly the same when it came to her teenage years. “My teenage years didn’t mean much to me honestly. I know it’s hard to believe lol but i was a...

COVERSTAR: YW EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW AND VIDEO WITH JOAN NGOMBA.

PART ONE. I believe our subconscious minds take us where our conscious minds resist to go. She always loved writing so all she wanted to be was a Historian. She was determined to be just that so much so that she ended up studying History and Archaeology at the University of Buea. So what would actually change the course of a determined ‘Historian’ in the making? Here’s the story about the media journey of Joan Ngomba, a TV presenter, Producer, Writer,Blogger and a Fashionista. Just after university, Joan had found a job as a secretary for JENS production when a major tragedy stroke. Joan lost her last sister in a ghastly car accident, she was only 17. Having to deal with such devastating loss, Joan found herself completely lost, not knowing how to pull through with life. She had few friends in Nigeria who encouraged her to come over for a change. With the support from her friends and determination to pull through, Joan set off for Nigeria in 2007. When she got to Lagos, her friends again encouraged her to apply for a post graduate course which she agreed to. She applied waited for the entrance results. COVER STAR: YW VIDEO INTERVIEW WITH DUWA.

Whenever Tosin,Milounge boss, starts a conversation with “YO!”,I just know something is about to pop. I had been woken up by my ringtone on this particular morning. It was Tosin on the line, all excited like he just came face-to-face with a gold mine. He was about to send over a song by this incredible artist for me to listen. Once the audio came through, I pressed play and was transported into a delightful musical world and once her voice came on, my ears instantly did somersaults…my excitement levels went off the roof.   After that, I knew I had to get to know this superstar soundbox even more. Once I got her contact, we got talking on whatsapp. If ever you got talking to Duwa, you quickly realise why her sound is so dreamily beautiful. She’s soft-spoken, respectful and widely and finely skilled to know exactly how she wants to present herself and music to the world. Born Glory Ojoduwa on the 29th of August, 1988 to Nigerian parents in the United States of America. Growing up in Washington DC, Duwa always had an irresistible love for music. Her parents recognised her talent at a very early age and her dad would record home videos of little Duwa singing down a storm. That love propelled her to join the children’s choir and then youth choir where she did lead solos and also conducted the choir. Off to college where she studied Mass Communication and Media Integration, she also sang in a college band which helped ignite her love for music even more. Because of this irresistible love for...
